Younger Children and Early Elementary
Day 26
READ: Heaven breaks through: The story of John the Baptist, from Matthew 3, Luke 1; John 1, p.200-213.
ACTIVITY: Make a “telephone” out of paper cups and string. Poke a hole in the bottom of the cups and run a string between them. One person speaks the words from heaven while another listens with the cup up to their ear.
The words: “This is my own son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Listen to him.”
For the younger ones: “This is my son…Listen to him.”
REMEMBER: Talk about your baptism if you remember, and tell the story of your child(ren’s) baptism.
ORMANENT IDEAS: hang a dove, make one or print a picture.
This ornament reminds us of Jesus’ baptism.
Older Elementary
Day 26
READ: p.542-547, “A Boy in the Temple”, & “Baptized”.
ACTIVITY: Talk about your baptism, if you don’t have a memory book of that day make one. Ask family and friends about that special day and record stories from in writing, or on video. If you have not been baptized talk about a time you might like to be baptized and make some plans.
ORNAMENT: A dove. This ornament reminds us of Jesus’ baptism.
