Listen to: “Love Came Down at Christmas”
I think most humans look for a sign that God is real. That God is talking to us, or that God has made a clear path for us to follow. I like how the first verse of this song talks about how the star and angels gave a sign…a sign that God was here and where to go. But what I like even more in this song is all that talk about love. We may not get a star or an angel to show us the way, but God’s love is ever present and when we experience the love of God, we are on the right path.
While Valentines Day is not a Biblical holiday, I think it is great that is follows Christmas. For just as this song speaks, the gift that keeps giving is love. That is the reason Jesus came in the first place, to show and give us the Father’s love. I hate to let all the Christmas decorations go in the New Year, and I have taken to the habit of leaving some greens and hanging heart ornaments till Valentines. This is my reminder that the love we receive at Christmas is for all time and my work is to keep spreading it all year.
If you wonder where God is…look for the love your see, give and receive. This is a sign for you today.
