The Beautiful

December 14

Day 18

Listen to: “There’s a Song in the Air”

In this song, the angels are referred to as “the beautiful”. I love thinking about the angels in that way. But it also makes me pause and ask; What makes them beautiful? I can’t help but think that what makes them beautiful is the song they sing. It reminds me of a verse spoken by the prophet Isaiah (52:7) “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’”

Beauty comes from the message we bring. This season as you prepare for Christmas and the beauty of it…remember the most beautiful part about you and the season is the message of peace, good news and salvation that you share.

Activity for Kids:

Look in a mirror. Ask, what do you think makes people beautiful? Read the Isaiah passage from above. What do they think now? The love of Jesus shining out of you makes you part of “the beautiful”. Sing the song together.

Move the angels forward one note.

1 There's a song in the air! There's a star in the sky! There's a mother's deep prayer and a baby's low cry! And the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing, for the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!

2 There's a tumult of joy o'er the wonderful birth, for the virgin's sweet boy is the Lord of the earth. Ay! the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing, for the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!

3 In the light of that star lie the ages impearled; and that song from afar has swept over the world. Every hearth is aflame, and the beautiful sing in the homes of the nations that Jesus is King!

4 We rejoice in the light, and we echo the song that comes down through the night from the heavenly throng. Ay! we shout to the lovely evangel they bring, and we greet in his cradle our Savior and King!
