December 24
Day 28
Listen to: “Silent Night, Holy Night”
And so, we have arrived at Christmas Eve. Each family has their own traditions for this day. And one big tradition for so many is singing this song by candlelight at the end of the Christmas Eve service. There is just one line about the Angels in this song, but it packs a powerful punch!
“Heavenly Hosts sing Alleluia”… or Innumerable Angels sing God be praised. This Christmas Eve, when you sing this song, remember that you are praising God with unnumbered hosts of angels and humans around the globe as we remember and give thanks for the wonderful work God started on this night in the world.
Tonight, we can sleep in heavenly peace, knowing that the God of the universe saved us. We know our final place in life, even if things are tough now, because of this silent night so long ago.
May the God of Christmas be the God of your life, not just tonight but always. May you sing God’s praises everyday till we sing Silent Night again next year.
Activity with Kids:
Sing Silent Night one more time before bed. Leave a battery operated candle glow in their rooms as a reminder of peace and worship to God.
Move the angels to their final note.
Merry Christmas and God Bless you all.
Silent Night
Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright. Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child. Holy infant so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight. Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia, Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night! Son of God love's pure light. Radiant beams from Thy holy face With dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus Lord, at Thy birth Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
